Here we are with Day 3 of classic gaming. The game today was the one that started the fighting game craze of the 90′s Street Fighter 2. I chose to play the Sega Saturn version of this game. It has all the original sounds and graphics from the arcade. It also includes the original, Champion Edition, and Turbo editions of the game. I was hoping to play through all three but time kind of ran out. I did make it through the first two. In the original game I chose my favorite character Ryu and made it through the game fairly quick until I made it to M. Bison. In Champion Edition I figured I should play one of the bosses that were added to this version. I chose to play the game as the final boss of M. Bison himself. Hopefully tomorrow I can get time to play the turbo edition as well as play my next game on my list.
Street Fighter 2 is considered one of the games the put the Super Nintendo ahead of the Genesis. It was announced that it would be exclusive to this system, so many Street Fighter 2 die hards had to get the SNES. I had the game pre-ordered a few months before the game came out. Probably about a year later Capcom found a loophole in their agreement with Nintendo and released the Champion Edition version on the Genesis, but then later the SNES got the Turbo version. It is pretty crazy how many versions of Street Fighter 2 were released before making it to number 3.
Here is the original commercial for Street Fighter 2 for the SNES.
Last Summer some neighbors of ours got some kittens. The kittens liked to roam around the neighborhood and would visit us almost nightly. We believe that these neighbors moved a couple months ago and left the cats behind. When it started to get cold we didn’t really know what to do. Sarah found a cat tent on a visit to Ikea one day and we bought it. The cats have been using it and luckily have survived the winter, but we don’t really know what to do. We have felt that they should have a great home with someone that can take care of them. One of the cats that has really warmed up to us was a black one which Sarah calls Liption. We have even let this cat some into our home a few times.
About a 2 weeks ago Sarah noticed this black cat was pregnant. We have been trying to do our best to take care of it and was hoping the kittens wouldn’t be born during a cold spell. Well yesterday I came home from work and there are three little fur balls in the tent. Luckily everything went well and this week is going to be a nice warm one. If anyone would like a cat we would love to give them to a good home.
Here is a pic of the mother several months ago sleeping on our couch and then the Kittens only a day old.

The game I chose today was the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. This game takes a little longer since there aren’t really any warp zones like mario. I did a lot better than I thought I would. I died probably 4 times during the entire game and managed to get all 6 chaos emeralds which gives you a slightly different ending.
Here is a pic of my time.

The event just finished. From what I see it looks mostly that Apple is playing catchup by adding many of the features the competition already has. The main new features announced include:
All of these are welcome additions and pretty much cover all the features that users have been wanting. Personally, I feel apple held back a little. I think there will be some new additions along with a new iPhone this summer when the software becomes publicly available. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Last weekend I finished all the homework I had, so I do not have any classes this week with Spring Break. I thought it would be fun to get some use out of my classic gaming consoles. Unfortunately, today I didn’t quite get the amount of time I wanted to spend on playing, but the game I chose for today is one I know well. The game was the original Super Mario Brothers. I was going to attempt the game without any warps and still might go for it if I end up with some time later in the week. I managed to complete the game in 16:31.9 and somehow managed to do it without losing any lives.
I guess I’ve still got it.
