Video is Finished

My video is now finally finished. I have been tweaking with it all week and it is due tomorrow. My project partner and I burned both of our edits to DVD last night and we will be watching them for the final tomorrow at 1:00. I think I would have loved even more time to try and tweak things, but I feel like it is now presentable. I have uploaded the video on Vimeo which is a great site for hosting HD video. So here it is for your enjoyment.

Ultimate Game Console

This is just retro goodness. Someone has taken an Atari 2600, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis and combined them into one system. The system itself is bigger than an xbox and not really much to look at although I do like the Pac Man power switch and the built in system selector with the system logos. Also, all the power supplies are built in, so only one power chord is needed for the thing. Below is a pic and a youtube video showing it in action.

Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive $10

We went to FYE recently and they had a big display sign that said they had the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive for $20 after rebate. I thought about it for a little bit while we walked around the store and decided to buy one. After the announcement that HD-DVD was dead Microsoft dropped the players to $49.99 which I didn’t think was too bad of a price of itself. Anyway that was the price I had to pay for it, but the real kicker is that it had a $40 rebate. Instead of the $20 after rebate advertised price it was really $10 after the rebate. Even though the format is dead I figure if I can get some of the movies for cheap it’s not that bad. Also since I have been collecting video games as of late it would go good with the collection as kind of a novelty item. Included with the set is also a new remote and King Kong on HD. Anyone that has a 360 and want HD for cheap I recommend picking one up. I doubt they will last long.

NES Games I Have Completed

Last night Brandon and I got talking about the good old days of video games. Mainly the third generation era. It got me thinking about how many games I actually completed during this era. I went through a list of all the NES games to see if I could remember the ones I finished. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing since it does show how much time I spent playing Nintendo during my younger years, but it sure felt good saving the princess the first time in Super Mario Brothers, defeating Dr. Wiley and his robots in Mega Man, or killing Medusa in Kid Icarus. My plan is once this semester is over to pull an all nighter and just play games. Should be a good way to relieve the pressure from finals.

Here are the ones I remember finishing. I think there may be more.

SMB 1,2,3
Castlevania 1,2,3
Legend of Zelda 1,2
TMNT2
Adventure Island
Blaster Master
Contra
Double Dragon 1,2,3
Wizards and Warriors
Ironsword (Wizards and Warriors 2)
Kid Icarus
Metroid
Mega Man 2,3,4,5
Super Contra
Ninja Gaiden 1,2,3

New Millennium Falcon

It has been rumored for a few months now that Hasbro was making a new version of the Millennium Falcon. Today pictures surfaced at galactichunter.com proving the rumors to be true. From what I can tell it is still based off the original 1978 mold, but with some drastic changes to the inside. With the original and releases up until now you would take off the back section to reveal the play area with the chess table, hidden floor compartment, and Luke’s training area. The new version allows you to remove the middle section revealing other familiar parts of the falcon from the movie. The cockpit is also supposed to be bigger to fit the newer figures which has been a problem since the new figures started in ’95. The rumored retail price is around $150. I think I will probably pass on it though since I have two falcons already. The original ’78 model and the ’95 release that my brother gave me for my birthday. It will still be cool to see on the store shelves. Click on the image to see it in it’s full size glory.
