Coin Frame Project is Done

Friday just before we left for St. George I decided to give Roberts a call to see if my coin frame was finished. They told me it was, so I ran down there and picked it up. Unfortunately it was only a few minutes before I need to go and pick up Sarah and her sister, so I had to wait until Sunday night before I could put my coins in the thing. I am really happy with how the finished project turned out. Now I just need to work on filling in the holes. Here are a couple of pics.

Vader Cutout

Well Sarah got her Elvis Standup last month, so I guess it was my turn. A friend of mine found this on the sidewalk at someone’s house and they were giving it away. Knowing I like Star Wars he picked it up for me. I didn’t think I would really have anywhere to display it for now, but it fits right between my two display shelves. It keeps on freaking Sarah though into thinking someone is in the office.

More DHL Problems

Unfortunately Apple uses DHL as well. I figured oh well as long as I get my battery. Anyway the Apple representative got my address wrong. Basically everything was correct except he put the city as St. George. The address and zip code and everything else was correct. So I was tracking my package on DHL’s website and the tracking stated that they were waiting for the recipient to come and pick it up. I asked my nephew if he would take me since it was a day that I do not have the car. We went up there and I showed the tracking info to the DHL lady. She stated to me that she just put my package in the bin to go back to the sender because it said St. George. My package was still there, but they apparently put them all in a big box or something and they can’t get into it. I was really ticked. If they were going to do that they could have at least said so on the tracking instead of having me drive up to American Fork. Apple overnighted the battery, but DHL sent it back 2 day, so Apple should get it back today. I called Apple the same day this happened and they fixed my address, but said they had to receive the other battery back and then they will reship it with the right address. I’m guessing now it will be Tuesday before I get the battery. I was really hoping to have the fresh battery for our trip to St. George. On a good note Simply Mac did replace my power adapter, so I am good there. Now I just need the fricken battery.

Macbook Pro Battery Problems

A few weeks ago I noticed my Macbook Pro was no longer giving me a warning when it was low on power. It would just shut off with no warning. Not sleep no nothing. The way it should work is with 10 minutes left on the battery give you a warning and then after that 10 minutes put the computer to sleep. Then if it doesn’t make it to a power adapter in time go into hibernation. I called Apple today and after a 30 minute phone call I am getting a replacement battery. Makes me glad I purchased the extended warranty. This will now be my 3rd battery since I have had the machine. The first one was part of the widespread recall that also affected Dell and several other manufactures and now this one. On the positive side I now have a fresh new battery on the way to start over again with. The other issue I have is my Magsafe power adapter is started to fray on the end. I know there were reports of this happening some time ago, but I figured I was immune. I was told by the Apple representative to take it to an Apple repair center to have them look at it, so I will probably go to Simply Mac by the University Mall tomorrow after class. I have read that the new power adapters have more insulation, so they do not have this issue.I knew when I bought this machine that since it was a 1st generation machine I might have some issues like this. Apple support has always been good to me when I have called in with one of the issues and I really love the computer. It has been a big help with school and fun projects.

Happy 30th Atari 2600

30 years ago this month the first Atari 2600 systems rolled off the assembly line and began a home video game revolution. I have many of fond memories playing games like Pitfall, Adventure, Pacman, and Asteroids. Unfortunately our Atari was given away a long time ago, so I no longer have it, but the games live on with emulators :)
