Over the weekend we watched the entire Halloween series. It has been a long time since I watched some of them. I was actually quite impressed with how good all the movies really were. The Halloween movies didn’t ever get quite as silly as the other horror movies like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street as they progressed. That is with the exception of the 3rd movie which didn’t even involve Michael Myers. The last movie also wasn’t Halloween at its greatest. Considering a series of 8 movies though 2 duds isn’t too bad. I also found out that the 6th film was heavily re-edited after a bad reaction to a test screening. I have found out that the original version exists in a bootleg producers cut version. I have been thinking of picking this up to see which version I like best. I’m starting to like linux more and more for this server stuff. I have been wanting to setup a backup procedure for the MYSQL databases for sometime ever since I was hacked about a year ago I think it was. Anyway I found a nifty script that I have set to run weekly which will backup the database, compress it in a zip file, and then email it to my gmail account. So pretty much now that it is setup I don’t even have to touch it. Then if some script kiddy finds another vulnerability in the version of phpnuke I am using now I can just restore from a backup and at worst case scenario only lose a weeks worth of data. Yesterday a video was posted on the official Indiana Jones site showing some behind the scenes footage of the new movie being made. It just made it to the Digg front page and one of the comments was about how George Lucas is wearing a Han Shot First shirt. I though it was pretty funny. I’m glad to see that George can take a step back and not take the criticism too hard and laugh at himself. Many fans including me thought this was one of the worst things that changed in the Special Editions of Star Wars. However, I do accept the fact that he created the movies and if that is how he wants it then so be it. I still have my Laserdisc versions of the original that I can watch if I want to see it the way I remember it.Video Link 
I just realized today was Friday the 13th. I think I just might have to watch a scary movie tonight. We recently watched most of the Friday the 13th series, so it will probably be something else. Anyway watch out for Black cats and 13th floors in buildings and all of that other superstitious stuff.
