New Server
I was able to score a 20 gig hard drive last night thanks to Cory. I have pretty much everything transferred over. There are still a few things that I have to fix since LInux is case sensitive as compared to Windows. I am hoping for some input to find out if this is any faster on Mstar or not. I’m hoping it is since I was up until about 4:30 last night working on this thing. For those wondering it is now running on Ubuntu Server Linux 4.04 with Apache. All open source free software now instead of Windows 2003 Server with IIS like my last setup. Everything was installed with command line. There is no GUI installed on the system. If anyone still does find a hard drive for me I am still looking. I’ll set up a new poll about the server speed to get some feedback. Also the forums were purged. No one was really using them, but I found out there was a lot of spam in them. Guests can no longer post only registered users. Hopefully that will keep it down. Continue reading
Looking for Hard Drive
I am thinking of switching the server to Linux and using my mstar fiber connection for the hosting. It would be a lot faster than the cable connection it is connected to right now. I have a computer and thought it was all set up, but when I got home I got the infamous click of death from the hard drive. If anyone has a spare hard drive that they could sell me for a decent price it would be appreciated. My ideal would be something in the 40GB range. Continue reading
Fun with Rocketfett
A member at rebelscum posted a video of them playing with a vintage Boba Fett prototype. When Boba Fett was going to be released in 1979 he was supposed to have a rocket that fired out of his backpack. However, just before the release a child was killed by choking on a similar missle from a Battlestar Galactica toy. When the Boba fett figure was released the missle was glued in and the spring mechanism removed. Some better pictures of what the prototypes look like can be seen at http://theswca.com/images-unpro/rocketfett-lslot.html
Boba Fett was first a mailaway figure so when kids did finally receive the figure a letter was also included to explain the change. An example can be seen at http://theswca.com/images-speci/mailaways/fett.html
We are back
We had a great trip on our cruise and took lots of pictures. I will try and get some up shortly. In the meantime last night the Star Wars episode of Robot Chicken aired which was really funny. Here is the link for your enjoyment.
